What is prosthodontics?
Key aspect of prosthodontics
Prosthodontics is a medical art dedicated to the restoration of damaged teeth or the replacement of missing teeth, and thus the art of restoring a proper and aesthetic smile. At the Aldent Comprehensive Dentistry Center, missing teeth are restored by prosthodontists. Our goal and ambition is the harmonious reconstruction of missing teeth and raising patients’ awareness of the importance of having a beautiful smile, which brings success, life satisfaction, and health.
The importance of prosthodontics
Losing even a single tooth is not without consequences for the entire chewing system. Neglecting prosthetic treatment can lead to serious problems, such as:
- Increased load on the remaining teeth – The remaining teeth must take over the function of the missing one, which may lead to their excessive wear.
- Bite changes – The forces and tensions of the bite may change, disrupting the chewing function.
- Shifting of adjacent teeth – The teeth neighboring the gap may tilt, leading to a change in their position.
- Extrusion of opposing teeth – The opposing teeth may erupt from their sockets, leading to temporomandibular joint disorders.
- Bone loss – Missing teeth lead to bone resorption in the maxilla and mandible, which can complicate future implant treatment.
That is why it is so important to replace every missing tooth as quickly as possible. In our center, prosthodontists work on harmoniously restoring missing teeth to give patients a beautiful smile and full dental functionality.
Digital Prosthodontics
Modern Technologies at CSK ALDENT
At the Aldent Comprehensive Dentistry Center, we use the latest technological advancements to provide our patients with the highest standard of prosthetic treatment.
The most important technologies we apply include:
- 3D intraoral scanners – These devices allow for precise mapping of the patient’s teeth, which is crucial for the accurate fabrication of crowns, bridges, and other prosthetic restorations. Thanks to intraoral scanners, we avoid traditional impressions, which can be uncomfortable for the patient.
- Digital Smile Design (DSD) – A modern protocol that uses advanced digital technologies to create a perfectly tailored smile. We emphasize personalization and active patient involvement, ensuring satisfying results.
- Sleeper One System – An advanced computer-assisted anesthesia device that guarantees completely painless procedures. With precise dosing of the anesthetic, treatments such as tooth preparation are comfortable for the patient.
- CAD/CAM milling machines – These allow crowns and bridges to be made from small ceramic blocks with the highest precision. CAD/CAM technology enables the design of prosthetic restorations in a way that ensures perfect fit and durability.
- VITA Easyshade spectrophotometer – This device enables precise shade selection, which is crucial for the final aesthetic result. Easyshade records the light waves reflected from the patient’s teeth, allowing for the perfect color match of crowns, veneers, or bridges.
Dental Crowns
An Effective Method for Restoring Damaged Teeth
Dental crowns are one of the most commonly used solutions for damaged or weakened teeth. They are caps that cover the entire visible part of the tooth, restoring its original shape, size, and function. Crowns can be made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal, or composites. The choice of material depends on the patient’s individual needs and the location of the crown.
Dental crowns are particularly recommended in cases of:
- Significant tooth damage: When a tooth is too damaged to be restored with traditional fillings.
- Strengthening after root canal treatment: A tooth after root canal therapy becomes more fragile and prone to fractures, making a crown the ideal solution for reinforcement.
- Improving aesthetics: Crowns can be used to enhance the appearance of teeth, especially those that are discolored or have an unattractive shape.
Advantages of Dental Crowns
- High durability: Crowns can last for many years, providing patients with long-lasting aesthetic and functional results.
- Natural appearance: Modern materials used to create crowns allow for an effect that is almost indistinguishable from natural teeth.
- Tooth protection: A crown protects the tooth from further damage, which is especially important for weakened teeth.
The Importance of Timely Prosthetic Treatment
Early prosthetic intervention is crucial for maintaining oral health and avoiding long-term problems. Neglecting the treatment of missing teeth can lead to serious consequences, such as:
Without proper restoration, the remaining teeth are exposed to greater stress, which may lead to their accelerated wear and damage.
The absence of a tooth leads to bone loss in the maxilla and mandible, which may complicate future prosthetic and implant treatments.
Missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to shift, leading to bite disorders and difficulties in the proper functioning of the entire chewing system.
Implantoprosthetics
Modern tooth restoration
Implantoprosthetics is a field of dentistry that combines the advantages of implantology and prosthetics, offering patients durable and aesthetic solutions for missing teeth.
Benefits of Implantoprosthetics
Implantoprosthetics offers many advantages compared to traditional methods of replacing missing teeth:
- Durability and stability: Prosthetic restorations supported by dental implants are extremely durable and can last a lifetime with proper care.
- Preservation of bone structure: Unlike traditional dentures, implant-based restorations prevent bone resorption, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy masticatory system.
- Natural appearance and comfort: Implant-supported prosthetic restorations look and function like natural teeth, providing high comfort for the patient.
Stages of Prosthetic Treatment at CSK Aldent:
At the first visit to our clinic, we conduct a medical interview with the patient and examine the condition of the oral cavity, while simultaneously planning prosthetic treatment. During the appointment, it is necessary to perform radiological examinations – a panoramic X-ray (Pantomogram) and additional dental X-rays. These images allow us to assess the condition of all teeth in the oral cavity and check for possible inflammatory conditions in the periapical tissues, as well as to verify whether previous root canal treatments were performed correctly.
Once the patient is qualified for prosthetic treatment, we perform a professional teeth cleaning procedure. If the teeth require additional endodontic treatment, the patient is scheduled for pre-prosthetic therapy to prepare the teeth for reconstruction.
For the fabrication of a full-ceramic or porcelain crown, the tooth must be ground down, meaning it is reduced in size in every dimension. In our clinic, this procedure is performed completely painlessly under computer-controlled anesthesia. After the tooth has been prepared, we take digital prosthetic impressions using an intraoral scanner. These impressions are then sent electronically to the prosthetic laboratory to fabricate the crown or bridge. The duration of the visit is approximately 0.5 to 2 hours, depending on the number of teeth being prepared. Temporary crowns are placed on the reduced teeth.
The third visit is the final appointment, during which our prosthodontist places the prosthetic restoration. In some cases, an intermediate visit may be required beforehand for a trial fitting. The color of the prosthetic crowns is selected using a computer-based system, allowing for a perfect match to the natural shade of the patient’s remaining teeth.
The average time needed to complete the prosthetic restoration, from the moment impressions are taken, is about one week. After the crowns are delivered, our dental hygienists conduct an instruction session on how to properly maintain oral hygiene. The patient also receives oral care products to use at home.
From the moment the prosthetic work is delivered, we recommend regular check-up visits every six months.
Prosthetic restorations at our CSK Aldent Clinics
At the Aldent Comprehensive Dentistry Center, we offer advanced prosthetic solutions in the form of all-ceramic crowns. The process begins with a precise digital scan performed using a modern intraoral scanner. The resulting image is then sent to a five-axis milling machine, which carves the shape of the crown from a carefully selected ceramic block.
The technology we use guarantees not only excellent aesthetics but also perfect crown tightness, which is especially important in subgingival areas. Traditional porcelain crowns with a metal substructure, due to their dark shade and lack of light transmission, may not meet aesthetic expectations. Our all-ceramic crowns and bridges feature exceptional color depth and translucency, making them almost indistinguishable from natural teeth.
An additional advantage of all-ceramic restorations is their high biocompatibility – they do not cause allergies, which is a common issue with traditional metal restorations. Studies confirm that the material used for our crowns is three times more resistant to chewing forces than other materials used in dentistry.
In our clinics, all-ceramic crowns are extremely popular. Thanks to their exceptional aesthetic and mechanical properties, they are used both in the anterior region and for posterior teeth, as well as for implant restorations.
All-ceramic crowns guarantee:
- Excellent aesthetics
- Precise workmanship
- High durability
- Safety – no allergic reactions
- Wide application – suitable for both natural teeth and implants
In the Aldent Comprehensive Dentistry Center, we also offer E-Max all-ceramic crowns, which represent the pinnacle of achievement in the field of prosthetic dentistry. Made entirely of porcelain, without any metal or zirconia substructure, they provide unmatched aesthetics and precision. Thanks to them, we achieve perfect color depth and translucency that imitates the natural appearance of a tooth.
E-Max crowns are distinguished by exceptional durability and resistance to wear, making them an ideal solution for restoring damaged teeth as well as improving aesthetics in cases such as diastema, crowding, discoloration, demineralization, or unsightly composite fillings.
The procedure for making E-Max crowns is painless and minimally invasive, carried out over two visits. While waiting for the final restorations, patients receive temporary crowns. The entire process takes about 7 days.
Porcelain veneers are extremely delicate, yet durable and highly aesthetic shells that are placed on the front surface of the teeth to give them a perfect, naturally beautiful appearance. These thin porcelain layers are an excellent solution for patients who wish to improve the aesthetics of their smile without the need for more invasive methods such as porcelain crowns. Porcelain veneers allow for subtle corrections of the shape, size, and color of the teeth, enabling the achievement of a harmonious and attractive smile that enhances the patient’s individual beauty.
In our clinics, every stage of creating veneers is carefully supervised by an experienced team of dentists and dental technicians working together to ensure the highest quality of service. Veneers are individually customized to the patient’s needs, made possible by using the latest technologies such as the VITA Easyshade spectrophotometer. This advanced device allows for the perfect color match of the veneers to the patient’s natural tooth shade, which is key to achieving a result that is as close to natural as possible.
The process of preparing the tooth for a veneer is minimally invasive, meaning that significantly more of the natural tooth structure is preserved compared to preparation for a crown. Thanks to this, veneers are not only aesthetic but also a healthier and less invasive solution for the patient. Depending on the patient’s needs, veneers can be used to mask discolorations, correct minor bite issues, and improve the shape and symmetry of the teeth.
At CSK Aldent clinics, we offer the unique possibility of creating crowns entirely out of gold, which represents one of the most durable and prestigious solutions in prosthetic dentistry. Gold, as a material with exceptional properties, provides excellent biocompatibility, strength, and resistance to corrosion, making gold crowns extremely durable and able to serve patients for many years.
Gold crowns are particularly recommended for patients who value not only functionality but also a unique, luxurious appearance. Gold, being a soft and malleable material, adheres perfectly to the tooth, ensuring an ideal fit and minimizing the risk of gaps between the crown and the natural tooth. In addition, gold crowns are less prone to cracking or chipping, which is often a problem with other prosthetic materials.
Choosing a gold crown is also a decision for exceptional aesthetics – gold has its own unique shine and elegance, making it an excellent choice for patients who want to stand out with an extraordinary yet long-lasting prosthetic solution.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are a proven and popular solution in the field of prosthetic dentistry, providing an effective way to restore damaged teeth. By combining the strength of metal with the aesthetics of porcelain, these crowns offer both functionality and an attractive appearance.
The process of making a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown in our clinics involves several precise stages, each of which is crucial to ensuring the highest quality and durability of the final restoration. The first step is tooth preparation, which creates the necessary space for the future crown. This procedure is completely painless thanks to the use of the modern Sleeper One device, which allows for precise and comfortable delivery of anesthesia, eliminating the discomfort associated with traditional methods.
Next, a metal substructure is placed on the prepared tooth, which is then layered with porcelain. This technique allows for the perfect match of the crown’s color and shape to the patient’s natural teeth. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and advanced technology, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns provide excellent fit and long-term durability, making them one of the most effective solutions in prosthetic dentistry.

Porcelain bridges are one of the most advanced and durable methods of replacing missing teeth, significantly improving both comfort and the aesthetics of a patient’s smile. In our clinics, we offer a variety of bridge types, individually selected to meet each patient’s needs and expectations.
Porcelain bridges are fixed restorations that can be made using full-ceramic zirconia crowns, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, or even gold crowns. Each of these materials has unique properties that allow us to achieve the desired functional and aesthetic result.
Preparation for a bridge requires the presence of abutment teeth in front of and behind the gap. These teeth are carefully prepared by reshaping and covering them with crowns. If there are not enough natural abutment teeth, implants can be placed beforehand to serve as stable supports. The bridge, composed of several connected crowns, is then permanently cemented to the abutment teeth, ensuring long-lasting durability and stability of the entire structure.
Porcelain bridges offer numerous advantages. Most importantly, they are permanently fixed, so patients do not have to worry about them shifting or falling out, as can happen with removable dentures. The chewing forces are transferred directly to the tooth roots or implants, providing a natural sensation while eating. In addition, thanks to the use of high-quality porcelain, bridge teeth are resistant to wear and staining, and their appearance is virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.
Porcelain inlays, also known as inlays, onlays, or overlays, are a modern and highly precise solution in the field of tooth restoration, far surpassing traditional composite fillings in both durability and aesthetics. In our clinics, advanced technologies and high-quality materials allow for the accurate reconstruction of teeth that have been significantly damaged.
Inlays are used when the damage is limited to the chewing surface of the tooth without affecting the cusps. Onlays are chosen when it is necessary to rebuild one or more cusps, while overlays are dedicated to cases where the tooth is severely damaged and only the side walls remain intact, without the upper chewing surface.
The process of creating porcelain inlays begins with the precise removal of damaged tooth tissue and taking an accurate impression. Then, in the dental laboratory, a perfectly fitted restoration is made, which is permanently cemented onto the tooth. Thanks to this method, porcelain inlays are extremely durable, resistant to chewing forces, and blend seamlessly with the natural teeth, both in terms of aesthetics and function.
Dentures are an essential solution in cases of tooth loss, which can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life, both functionally and aesthetically. At CSK Aldent clinics, we offer dentures that are designed with maximum comfort and a natural appearance in mind.
Dentures may be partial, replacing several missing teeth, or complete, restoring the entire dentition. Each denture is individually tailored to the patient, taking into account their anatomy and needs, which guarantees stability and comfort of use.
It is extremely important to replace missing teeth as soon as possible, since neglecting prosthetic treatment can lead to serious consequences such as tilting of adjacent teeth, extrusion of opposing teeth from their sockets, bone loss in the jaw and maxilla, as well as temporomandibular joint disorders.
The dentures we provide are made from the highest-quality materials, ensuring long-lasting durability, resistance to wear, and an appearance closely resembling natural teeth. These dentures are not only functional but also restore patients’ self-confidence, allowing them to smile and speak freely without concerns about appearance or comfort.
