    What are zygomatic implants?

Zygomatic implants are a revolutionary solution for patients with extensive bone loss in the maxilla. This type of implant is dedicated to edentulous patients for whom, just a few years ago, restoring missing teeth with traditional implants was impossible. Zygomatic implants were developed by Swedish professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark. The pioneer of implant dentistry discovered that the zygomatic bone has the proper structure and volume to allow for implant osseointegration, thus giving many patients the opportunity for comfortable restoration of lost teeth.

Zygomatic implants are placed in the posterior sections, anchored in the zygomatic bone, which is why they are also called zygoma implants. They are characterized by being significantly longer than traditional implants, ranging from 30 mm to over 50 mm. They are made entirely of titanium – a material that is compatible and biocompatible with the human body.

    Benefits of Using Zygomatic Implants

    • Time Efficiency: The zygomatic implant system significantly reduces surgical treatment time and overall treatment costs compared to standard implants. There is no need for additional surgical procedures such as bone grafting and regeneration (often taken from the iliac crest, chin, or mandibular ramus) or sinus lift procedures.
    • Lower Costs: Fewer procedures translate into lower overall treatment costs.
    • Increased Safety: Minimizing additional procedures reduces the risk of postoperative complications.
    • Immediate Loading: Zygomatic implants can be prosthetically loaded immediately after surgery, eliminating the long waiting period required for full osseointegration. In the case of traditional implants, several months are usually needed for integration with the bone.

Technology and Stability of Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic implants are placed at a 45-degree angle into the zygomatic bone. Thanks to multipoint cortical anchorage and the threaded apex design, they provide optimal stability for the prosthetic restoration. Made of titanium, they are biocompatible and safe for the patient’s body.

By choosing zygomatic implants at the CSK Aldent clinic, patients can expect modern, effective, and safe treatment that restores full functionality and a beautiful smile in a shorter time.

At CSK Aldent clinics, zygomatic implant placement procedures are carried out by an experienced and highly qualified team of implant surgeons. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

Currently, there are no anatomical limitations that would prevent the placement of zygomatic implants.

With just four zygomatic implants, we can restore the entire dental arch.

    1st Visit
    Interview and examination

During the first visit, we conduct a detailed medical interview and a clinical examination of the oral cavity. An essential part of the diagnostics is performing a 3D CT scan (CBCT), which allows for precise assessment of the patient’s bone conditions and accurate treatment planning. Once the patient is qualified for the procedure, we set the surgery date and provide preoperative instructions.

    Implant Surgery

The placement of zygomatic implants is performed under computer-assisted local anesthesia, ensuring complete comfort and a painless experience. The procedure lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours. After surgery, the wound is secured with sutures, which are removed after 7–14 days. Dissolvable sutures may also be used. Our patients also receive oral care products and detailed post-operative instructions.

Follow-up Visit After the Healing Period

7–14 days after the procedure, a follow-up visit takes place during which our doctors assess the healing process, remove the sutures, and prepare the patient for the prosthetic restoration.

    Wizyta IV
    Prosthetic Restoration

In the case of traditional implants, several months are required for osseointegration with the bone. Zygomatic implants, however, can be immediately loaded with a fixed restoration (a bridge screwed onto the implants). This means that the patient can enjoy a new smile as early as 2 weeks after the procedure.

    Comprehensive Diagnostics and Individual Approach

Before qualifying a patient for an implant procedure, at CSK Aldent we carry out a detailed medical interview and a thorough clinical examination of the oral cavity. Our priority is the patient’s safety and comfort, which is why every consultation begins with precise diagnostics using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). This advanced imaging method allows our implantologists to make the most of the patient’s bone structure and to plan each procedure with the highest precision.

All decisions regarding the size and length of the implant are made individually for each patient. To ensure comfort during visits, we inform patients about every stage and procedure related to implantation, answer all questions, and provide written pre- and post-operative instructions. At CSK Aldent, each patient is treated individually, building trust and a sense of security.

    Modern and Painless Surgical Techniques

The implant procedure at CSK Aldent is performed using modern techniques that ensure minimal invasiveness and complete patient comfort. The procedure is entirely painless thanks to computer-assisted local anesthesia.

The surgery takes about 1.5 hours. After the implant procedure, the wound is secured with sutures, which may be dissolvable or removed after 7–14 days. Patients receive oral care products as well as detailed post-operative instructions. At our clinic, we make sure that every stage of treatment is carried out with the highest precision and attention to patient comfort.

    Healing Process

    Healing Control and Monitoring

After the implant procedure, a key stage is the healing process, which lasts from 7 to 14 days. During this period, we schedule a follow-up visit, during which our doctors assess the healing of the wound, remove the sutures, and prepare the patient for the next stage of treatment – the prosthetic restoration.

Our goal is to ensure that the healing process proceeds correctly and without complications. That is why patients are regularly monitored and receive support and guidance on oral care. This allows us to guarantee that the prosthetic restoration will proceed smoothly and within a short time.

    Prosthetic Restoration

Zygomatic implants are distinguished by the possibility of immediate prosthetic loading, which means that patients can enjoy their new smile as early as 2 weeks after the procedure. Unlike traditional implants, which require several months for integration with the bone, zygomatic implants allow for a faster return to full functionality.

At CSK Aldent, we use fixed (non-removable) prosthetic restorations that provide excellent stability and a natural appearance. Thanks to the precise fit of the implants and the use of modern materials, we can guarantee our patients durable and aesthetic solutions that restore confidence and comfort for many years to come.
